Approach

Aaroh campaign is being coordinated by Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG) with support from Oxfam (India) Trust. Five Regional Coordinators are coordinating the activities at the regional level:

• Disha Social Organization, Saharanpur, in Western Uttar Pradesh
• Vinoba Sewa Ashram, Shahjahanpur, in Rohilkhand region
• People's Action for National Integration (PANI), Faizabad, in Central Region
• Samarpan Jan Kalyan Sansthan, Jalaun, in Bundelkhand Region
• Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group (GEAG), Gorakhpur, Eastern Uttar Pradesh

A seven-member steering committee comprising GEAG, Oxfam and the five regional coordinators has been formed at the state level to coordinate the activities, identify challenges and plan for emerging issues. At the regional level steering committee comprising coordinating organisation, four NGO representatives and two co-opted members and GEAG representative (eight in all) have been formed. Except coordinating NGO, the NGO representation is on rotational basis so the coordinating opportunities are decentralised.

Structure of responsibility sharing and effective collaboration in activities of sustainable agriculture, literacy and farmers union have already been set up.
