Disha Social Organization is a civil society organisation working in three districts of two states of India - Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Its field operations cover almost 0.6 million people in over 600 villages through multi-sectoral strategic interventions.

The women cell was created in 2000 to give even more space to women and women workers. The Women Cell meets once in a month to solve cases of violence against women. 
Over the years Disha has evolved its own way of advocacy, which is far away from the bookish means. Advocacy is helpful in raising issues of the people at local, state, national and international levels. 
In its formative years Disha promoted Ghad Kshettra Mazdoor Morcha and Mahila Mazdoor Evam Laghu Kisan Morcha. These CBOs have raised people's issues in an effective manner and have been behind some of the successful agitations. 
In partnership with Oxfam (India) Trust, Disha is spearheading We Can campaign in 13 districts of Uttaranchal. 
Though women do major part of agricultural operations in India, they do not enjoy status of farmer. Disha is spearheading a campaign in Western Uttar Pradesh to get women the status of farmers.
