She accepted the challenge and registered herself as a Change Maker.

As Change Maker, she organised several meetings among youths both girls and boys. Initially, she said that the youth did not take interest, but gradually they started they developed interest. Over a period of time her activities increased in the village. She brought the case of her own relative Ms Bala to Disha as Bala's in-laws were harassing her for land. With the help of the Disha team, a meeting was held in Bala's village and after long discussion, the case of Bala was solved and now she is living happily with her in-laws.

She has made 10 Change Makers.

Shimla

Shimla aged 21 years is daughter of Mr Phool Singh, and resides in Lakkhanwala village in Dehradun district. She is youngest among her two brothers and three sisters and all except her are married. Her father works with the electricity department of the Government of Uttaranchal. He is drunkard and does not fulfil his responsibilities towards the family.

Shimla is a close friend of Rita, who invited her to Change Makers' training in Dehradun. A motivated Shimla protested in her home the treatment meted out to Seema, wife of her brother Indrapal, who died in a road accident in 2004. Her another brother Satpal and his wife were jealous of the attention the other family members were paying to Seema and this led to frequent quarrels in the family vitiating the atmosphere. Shimla accepted the challenge from her younger brother’s wife and ensured that her sister-in-law got justice.
